Bay’s Charm
We Tacomans have had our fair share of fools and we aren’t shy about cawing on about them. We could hold a convention at the T-Dome and get a thousand able crows to carp on for weeks about their favorite fools of Tacoma’s past.
But there’s one fool that outshines them all, and if it weren’t for the fact that you couldn’t help but feel sorry for him, Tacomans would be inclined to boast of his blunders more often.
His name was Ernest Heatheridge, and like many of his era he came to Tacoma with ambitions to tame its nature; to orchestrate it under his own baton such that it could yield him some profitable return.
His initial ticket of entry was as a bank clerk, helping to finance the various schemes of those building the city in its early boom years.
But Ernest never intended to settle in as a company man. He had several ideas of his own, and his clients’ ventures just made him all the more restless.
